Yarmouth has a rich colonial history. The architecture of that time is still seen throughout town What started as a farming and whaling community didn't see a change towards a resort community until the very end of the 19th-century. Yarmouth is made up of three major villages: South Yarmouth, West Yarmouth, and Yarmouth Port.

Whydah Pirate Museum
Step aboard a replica of the Whydah ship, a galley ship that sunk in 1717 at the Whydah Pirate Museum in Yarmouth. The Whydah Pirate Museum is the only museum that has authenticated pirate treasure on display. While at the museum you are able to touch 300-year-old pirate coins, pirate pistols, and swords. Not only will you learn about these real life pirates, you will also learn about the nautical archeology and the technologies that allow scientists and historians to unlock the mysteries of this 300-year-old treasure. 

The Cape Cod Inflatable Park
Check out the Cape Cod Inflatable Park in West Yarmouth. The Cape Cod Inflatable Park is one of the most unique attractions on Cape Cod. Enjoy both wet and dry inflatable rides. It's fun the whole family can enjoy. If you are taking the kids and don't plan on going on any of the rides, you don't have to pay for admission.

The Yarmouth House
Founded in 1978, the Yarmouth House is one of the Cape's favorite places for prime rib and delicious, local seafood. The unpretentious atmosphere and amazing food will have you coming back again and again.

Overlooking Parker's River, Captain Parker's is a casual restaurant serving up award-winning clam chowder and other New England classics. Captain Parker's is also popular with those looking to relax on the patio with a beverage.

Bass River (Smugglers) Beach

This large beach, where the Bass River meets the ocean, is popular among swimmers and boaters and offers lots of amenities. Walk along the rock jetty, fish off the fishing deck, launch your boat from the boat ramp, and grab a bite to eat from the snack bar. There are lifeguards on duty and the calm waters make it a great place for young swimmers.

This small beach is great for watching boats go by from the benches. There is a roped off swimming area. The sand is full of shells and rocks, great for those looking for beach treasures. 

Beachwood (Parkers River) Beach

This popular, long beach has a playground, clean sand, and pretty calm waters. There are lifeguards on duty. It's a steep slope to the beach and there are stairs to get down. Benches are also available to sit and enjoy the beautiful view. 

Colonial Acres Beach

With the river on one side and bay on the other, Colonial Acres feels like your own personal island. The calm water is great for smaller children. Enjoy your day on the soft sand watching the boats come in and out of Hyannis Harbor.

This freshwater beach features a snack bar, roped off swimming area, and lifeguards. This is a great spot for families to spend the day lounging and playing in the soft sand and swimming in the calm water. A special permit is required to park here. 

Englewood Beach

This small beach offers a boat launch, playground, and lots of shells. Despite all of the boat activity, Englewood Beach is a very peaceful beach. There's a scenic view, and the soft sand makes it a great place to relax. 

Flax Pond Beach

This freshwater beach is a great place for an afternoon picnic. There is a pine-shaded picnic area with grills. There is plenty of parking and there's even a nurse's office. Enjoy the tennis and basketball courts as well as a roped off swimming area and dock in the water for jumping. 

Grays (Bass Hole) Beach

Bass Hole features lots of greenery and a long boardwalk that stretches over the salt marsh. This small beach has a large picnic area with pavilion. There are lifeguards on duty.

This freshwater beach offers tennis courts, a playground, soccer field, softball field, recreation area, and lifeguard. There is a roped off swimming area. Not only is there sand for lounging, there is also a grassy area that's great for reading and enjoying the scenery.

This freshwater beach is ideal for families with young children. There is a roped off swimming area with a lifeguard. Kids love the small playground, wooded area, and basketball court. 

Sea Gull Beach

This large, popular beach on Nantucket Sound is most popular among teens. This is also a favorite among windsurfers and those looking to play some volleyball. There is plenty of parking and plenty of parking and plenty of room in the sand. There is a snack bar and a lifeguard on duty. 

Seaview Beach

This mildly popular beach on Nantucket Sound has wonderfully soft sand that is almost white. Walk along the seawall and take in the view or plop your chair in the sand for a relaxing day in the sun. Lifeguards are on duty. 

Thachers Beach

This small beach overlooking Nantucket Sound is a great place to read a book. The small waves and rock jetty make it a fun place to explore. 

Wilbur Park

This beach is more ideal for launching boats than lounging in the sand. There is very little beach area parking is limited. 

Windmill Beach

Located near a historic windmill, Windmill Beach is very small and practically non-existent at high tide. 

Schools

Children in Yarmouth attend schools in the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District with the neighboring town of Dennis. Yarmouth operates two elementary schools: Station Avenue and Marguerite E. Small, which teach children pre-kindergarten through third grade. Fourth and fifth grade students attend Nathaniel H. Wixon Innovation School in Dennis. Sixth and seventh graders attend Mattacheese Middle School. Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School serves students from the eighth grade to twelfth grade. D-Y High School is known for their football and cross country programs.
